of Historical Sources

“A historical source can be anything which allows us to help us understand the past. What is important is to be able to distinguish what it best reveals. Our department's ambition is to place in the most appropriate context what it reveals about the past.”

Our research objectives
We aim for a comprehensive approach towards narrative historical sources. Therefore, we are not only interested in texts, but also the information which we can obtain from an analysis of the preservation of the manuscripts. This provides us with an opportunity to better understand the cultural and social bonds which these texts and their variants were a source of, and allow us to consider the cultural and historical monuments of various societies.
